Committed to communities. At Merit this is the mission by which we live in our day to day operations. Our main goal is to make selective, strategic healthcare facility acquisitions that can fundamentally improve the communities in which they are located.

To that end, each acquisition must be an independent operation with a strategic match that is driven primarily by local issues. We seek out urban hospitals that possess a demonstrated need for services, a loyal physician core with a large pool for potential physician recruitment, identifiable areas for operating improvement and a "reason for being" in the community.

How do we ensure our goals are in line with the local community? Our commitment is reflected by the creation of a local Board of Directors which reports directly to Merit. This local Board of Directors provides input from the community's point of view with respect to evaluation of capital expenditures, review of new technologies and services, allocation of resources, as well as issues of advocacy for the community.
